5-Minute Jira Setup

Connect Jira to Solvren in about 5 minutes.

Overview

This guide walks you through connecting Jira Cloud to Solvren in about 5 minutes. No developer help required—admins can complete setup from org settings.

Step 1 — Connect Jira

  1. Go to Org settingsIntegrationsJiraSetup

  2. Click Connect Jira

  3. Solvren will request permission to:

    • Read Jira issues and projects
    • Sync governance status
    • Manage webhooks for real-time updates
  4. Authorize the app in Atlassian

  5. You'll return to Solvren with Jira connected

Step 2 — Select Projects

Choose the Jira projects you want Solvren to monitor.

Typical projects:

  • Platform Engineering
  • Revenue Systems
  • Internal Tools
  • Billing or Payments

Select only projects where changes might affect revenue, billing, or financial systems. You can add more later.

Step 3 — Map Statuses

Map Jira statuses to Solvren governance states so status changes sync correctly.

Example mapping:

| Jira Status | Solvren State | |-------------------|--------------------| | Open | Draft | | In Progress | Ready | | Ready for Review | Ready | | In Review | In Review | | Blocked | Blocked | | Done | Approved | | Rejected | Rejected |

Customize mappings to match your workflow. Solvren uses these to keep governance status in sync when Jira issues change.

Step 4 — Enable Features

Recommended feature toggles:

  • Webhook Sync — Real-time status updates when Jira issues change (recommended)
  • Issue Property Sync — Show governance status in Jira (status, risk score, approval progress)
  • Comment Sync — Post governance events as Jira comments

Enable all three for the best experience. Webhook Sync requires webhook registration; Solvren handles this automatically.

Step 5 — Validate

Click Test Connection.

Solvren checks:

  • Jira authentication
  • API access
  • Project permissions
  • Webhook registration (if enabled)

If any check fails, follow the on-screen guidance. Common issues:

  • Webhook not registered — Ensure the Jira admin has approved webhooks
  • Project access — Verify your Jira user has access to selected projects

Step 6 — Done

After validation passes, Solvren will:

  • Detect Jira status changes
  • Sync governance data with linked issues
  • Mirror approval decisions in Jira
  • Display governance status in Jira (when Issue Property Sync is enabled)

You can return to Jira integration settings anytime to add projects, adjust status mappings, or change feature toggles.
